Pete Featured in a New Podcast: Teaching the Art of the Bluegrass Jam

Pete is featured on a recently-released episode of the Southern Songs and Stories podcast, “Teaching the Art of the Bluegrass Jam: Pete Wernick”.

The podcast, hosted by Joe Kendrick of public radio station WNCW from Spindale, NC is produced by WNCW and the Osiris Media Network.

Listen as Pete talks about his experiences interviewing the founders and early notables of bluegrass (Bill Monroe, Carter Stanley, and James Monroe) and how those conversations influenced Hot Rize in the band’s early days. Pete discusses his teaching which ranges from mentoring of young musicians to the broad impact of the Wernick Method which has launched over 10,000 people into the world of bluegrass jamming.

Pete reflects on the factors that were part of the success of Hot Rize and how those factors translate to today’s successful bluegrass groups. It’s a wide-ranging discussion with an artist whose career provides a unique perspective to this genre.
